The area of my research is environmental history in pre-colonial era especially deals with Sultanate-Mughal times. The spectrum of this study is quite broad and it covers issues relating to nature, forest, natural objects, natural resources, use of natural resources for the human development, man-nature relationship, formation and constant development of human civilization, urbanization, demographic factors, river and river courses, agricultural growth, harvesting techniques, implementation of new technologies for better growth in production, human activities, disease and health, medical science etc.

My proposed post-doctoral research aims to study the process of urbanization especially in medieval Bengal. Different aspects such as environmental concerns, pattern of urbanization during the period of my study, demographic factors, rise and growth of urban centers, trade and commercial activities, economic growth, agricultural manifestation, general condition of the people, health and hygiene to be addressed in this work.
